Just an update...

I'm hoping this doesn't fall on deaf ears.

We're still collecting money for the American Cancer Society.

Our main goal ($26,000.00) has been met already!  But we're not stopping there!  We want to keep raising money. And why not?  It's a great cause.

I'm just going to copy what I originally posted when I first wrote about this fundraiser.  I don't think I can say it any better than I did then.

It's a pretty fair assumption to say that most everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. I, as many of you know, have lost several family members to cancer and have watched others battle this disease. Armed with these personal experiences, I have done a small bit of fundraising in the past to help raise money to fight cancer. I have recently decided to step up and do more. I am hoping you all will help me.

Many of you may know a few months ago, David Cook won American Idol. He stated that he wanted to use his celebrity to do some good and help people.

Many of his fans took note and also wanted to get involved. Last month, a group of fans joined the American Cancer Society with the goal of raising $10,000 in honor of David Cook by the end of the American Idol Summer Tour. I was made aware of this amazing opportunity through a friend of mine. At this time we have currently reached that goal and now have set a new goal. $26,000 by his 26th birthday, on December 20th.

As a fan of him and what he stands for, I'm beyond excited to be a part of this opportunity to help out. You may or may not like David, but I do feel this is an important cause and I do hope that some of you can get behind this movement. All of the money raised will go towards this cause to help end this horrible disease.

The ACS has made it ridiculously easy for you to join the fight. You can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. Any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated…and I'd be willing to bet that your day will be brightened just knowing that you've done something to help eradicate a disease that has hurt far too many people.

Please pass the word on to anyone you feel would be able to and would want to contribute.

Thank you all so much,

Ali

I was only able to give $10. I wish I could donate more. I need to donate some to the Gulf Coast rebuilding effort (I was only able to give $50 to that, and that was a while ago). Being a poor student sucks. A lot.

ChaCha has screwed everything up and taken away the sure way I thought I had of making a few bucks. It makes me ill.

I hope you're doing ok. I'm sorry I haven't been so good about being in touch. I'm under a heap of stress about school and money and having to go up to Canada at Christmas which we can't afford but it's being demanded.

But you gave though. There's just some people that swore they'd donate and never did. Don't feel bad you didn't give more.

The fact that you gave at all not liking Idol or knowing about David was more than enough for me.

Thank you.

I'm just so disappointed in my 'friends' right now.

When we started this...they were all gung ho for it and shit right? Then when it came down to actually putting up some cash...all but three of us ran from it like it was the damn plague.

It's far more important to talk about how cute Cook is or some stupid dance they want him to do at one of the concerts than to raise money for the cause.

I mean, you donated and a friend of mine donated and neither one of you even is a fan of David's (which isn't the only reason I'm involved in this, it's just the money is being donated in his name and I assumed since the girls I started this with are fans of his, they'd pony up some fuckin' cash). So if it's important to you all, why can't it be important to them??

So I being one of action at times (like this) wanted to remind the girls about it. But the two others who have donated want me to wait and whatever because 'they're only going to ignore it anyway'

So I feel like I'm the ONLY one that gives a fuck about this and it's REALLY upsetting me and it's like, no one gives a fuck.

Sorry I went off there. Didn't mean to lay it all on you especially when you've been supportive.
